Two tropical storms (Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses) hit several parts of Luzon last November causing thousands of families to lose their homes, their source of livelihood, and for some, their loved ones. Their cries for help moved COCOGEN employees’ compassionate hearts to raise funds and mobilize relief efforts. 

The generosity of the entire COCOGEN family helped raise a total of Php 97,653.55 for Typhoon Rolly victims and Php 173,451.63 for Typhoon Ulysses victims. 

The employees donated in cash while some converted their leave credits. The Employee Relations Committee 2020 also conducted an online auction selling pre-loved items that were also donated by other employees.

COCOGEN chose the Bicol region as the beneficiary of Typhoon Rolly funds including the affected COCOGEN employees in Legazpi and Naga branches receiving a total of Php 19,000 cash assistance. The remaining Php 78,653.55 was donated as goods to a total of 200 families living in the barangays of San Juan, Obaliw, Calsada, Bongoran, San Isidro, and Pistola in Oas, Albay last Nov. 20.

Meanwhile, part of the proceeds for Typhoon Ulysses will be distributed to the affected COCOGEN employees. The remaining funds will be donated as construction materials to the affected families living in Marikina to help them restore their homes. They will also be receiving small stoves to help them cook. 

With the smiles and words of gratitude COCOGEN received from the beneficiaries, they are more empowered to stay true to their mission of being committed, compassionate, and genuine.
