Cocogen at 59: Blazing a trail of success

Two years into the pandemic and Cocogen Insurance, Inc. still remains as one of the non-life insurance leaders in the Philippines today. 


Cocogen, a proudly Filipino-owned non-life insurance company, has withstood the challenges of the past and current crises, and on its 59th year is still breaking new grounds by introducing new innovations and providing superb client services. 


Despite the current situation, Cocogen managed to maintain its position in the country’s top 10 non-life insurance companies ranking 9thin terms of Gross Premiums Written (GPW) while continuously reaping and achieving new milestones in the insurance industry. 


The company completed its rebranding efforts as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally and officially approved the change of its corporate name from UCPB General Insurance Company, Inc. to Cocogen Insurance, Inc. Along with this is the successful registration of the Cocogen trademark with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Philippines. 


At the start of the pandemic, the company was one of the first to launch non-life insurance solutions related to the ongoing health crisis - COVID-19 Assist+, an affordable microinsurance that provides financial assistance to insureds diagnosed with the disease. In late 2020, it was awarded as the Most Innovative New Non-Life Insurance Product by the International Finance Magazine.

 

This signaled the birth of other “new normal” products in 2021, mainly designed to respond to the needs of the new market landscape brought about by the changes of the pandemic.  

 

In 2022, our award-winning COVID-19 Assist+ product was enhanced to include vaccination coverage. Cocogen also launched Pro-Tech Computer Insurance to cover desktops and laptops designed for work from home and online class set up. With new businesses established ranging from small enterprises to big companies, the company began offering Data Liability Insurance to ensure security in case of customer data breach, and Parcel Protect to cover delivery services. 

 

To guaranty its promise of financial security and peace of mind, Cocogen accommodated the claims filed after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in December 2021. Further, the company participated in the donation drive, through Cocolife Foundation, for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Odette.
